Student Voice and Student Leadership at Hunterhouse College
Head Girl’s Team
Students in Year 14 apply to become members of the Head Girl’s Team and are then voted for by staff and peers. Our Head Girl and Deputy represent the school at all events throughout the academic year. Their team of XX students assist them and take specific responsibility for areas such as Careers, Hospitality and Administration.
House Captains
Those students elected to be House Captains will develop inter-house competitions throughout the year and are responsible for our annual Christmas Charity Concert.
Student Council
Our Student Council is made up of 28 elected students from Year 8 to 14. This group meets monthly, assisted by a team of staff, and consider key issues of school development and improvement such as learning and teaching, school policy, uniform, healthy eating and making the most of school facilities. In 2023/24 the Student Council successfully made changes to jewellery regulations, agreed the use of more student friendly pocket policies and ensured an inclusive and appropriate assembly rota.
SEN Ambassadors
Our SEN Ambassadors help with the provision and a buddy system for younger pupils in the school particularly around the area of transition and use of the hub/quiet lunch club at break and lunch time.
Cultural Ambassadors
The Cultural Ambassadors at Hunterhouse College raise awareness and promote the wide and varying cultures with the school. In particular, they provide information about the celebration of specific individual cultural celebrations each month.
Period Dignity Ambassadors
The role of our Period Dignity Ambassadors is to ensure period products are available and easy to access both during the school term and over the holidays. They also work hard to ensure period education is appropriate and to embed a culture of respect.
Year 8 Peer Supporters
The Year 8 transition to Hunterhouse College is undoubtedly made easier by our Peer Supporters. These Sixth Form students work closely with Year 8 Form Classes to help them navigate their new school, routine and friendships.
Subject Ambassadors
The students who have been selected as Subject Ambassadors represent Departments at Open Day Events and promote subjects at CEIAG fairs such as the Year 10 and Year 12 options events.
Subject Mentors
Students who act as subject mentors work closely with KS3 and / or KS4 students to offer additional support and guidance outside of taught lessons.
Student Panels
On many occasions throughout the school year we will call on a panel of students whether it be to answer questions at our Open Event, to assist with staff interviews or to share their views with visitors to the College.
