Key Stage 5 - Years 13-14

Mrs Cromie, Mr Gilmore and Mrs Shaw

Post 16

At Hunterhouse College our pastoral and academic structure is tightly woven to offer the most tailored support we can to students. There are approximately 190 students across Years 13-14 at Hunterhouse College. Key Sage 5 students are overseen by our Student Progress Manager for Key Stage 5, Mr Niall Gilmore. He has a team of two Heads of Year – Mrs Diane Cromie and Mrs Noreen Shaw. Students remain in their Key Stage 4 Form Class as they make the transition to Key Stage 5 but will find a mix of students in their other classes.

All students will engage with our Assertive Mentoring Programme, meeting one to one with their Form Teacher to review progress 2 – 3 times a year. As in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students will set Challenge Grades for each of their subjects. Students will sit frequent assessments throughout AS and A2 and will be offered bespoke Learning Guidance to ensure they meet their potential. There is also a great deal of UCAS support offered for students.

Students in Sixth Form follow an appropriate blend of General and Applied courses, chosen through individual meetings with specialist staff. All students will study either three or four courses depending on the number of GCSE points they have. As with GCSE, the College exceeds the requirements of the Entitlement Framework in Sixth Form and the curriculum offer is reviewed annually. Over the last few years, a number of new courses have been added, reflecting the changing needs and interests of our students.
