A school at the centre of the community
Pupils at the College are encouraged to be active citizens and take part in community–based work as part of both the taught and extended curriculum. Examples of our work in this important area include:

  • Sixth Form pupils volunteer in the community: primary schools, special schools, charities, hospitals, residential homes, Mandarin Speakers’ Association, Artsekta, Lisburn Arts Centre
  • Charity Committee
  • Young Enterprise
  • Public speaking and debates
  • Applied A level in collaboration with Belfast Metropolitan College
  • Music in the community
  • Enrichment activities with community partners including Cedar Foundation, Northern Ireland Children’s Enterprise and Belfast Activity Centre
  • Peer mentors – Sixth Form students help and advise Year 8 pupils
  • Primary School links – P6 pupils spend a day at Hunterhouse College
